An approach to minimize littering
2/3 of smoked cigarettes are not disposed of correctly and end up in the environment. This contributes significantly to environmental pollution, as a single cigarette butt contains up to 7000 toxic substances. In addition, cigarette butts are responsible for over 50% of the microplastics in the world's oceans.
The reason for littering is often convenience. The anti-littering butt compartment aims to reduce the number of cigarette butts in the environment as it constantly offers smokers a correct disposal option.
The cutting pattern was optimised to produce as little waste as possible and can be manufactured on existing machines. The product has the same size as the packaging for long cigarettes. Therefore, it can easily be integrated into existing systems.
